Job Summary:
The General Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of mechanical equipment on petroleum and propane vehicles. This role requires strong diagnostic skills, a solid understanding of mechanical systems, and the ability to perform both preventive maintenance and emergency repairs to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues in equipment.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify problems and recommend solutions
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and parts used
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and company procedures
- Order and replace worn or damaged parts and components
- Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper functionality
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred
- Proven experience as a mechanic (automotive, industrial, or general equipment)
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and tools
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and repair tools
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Physical stamina and ability to lift 75#.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
- Basic understanding of safety standards and procedures
- Must live within 20 miles of Limerick, PA.
- Must have a valid drivers license with No DWI/DUI convictions
- Must be able to pass a background check and a drug screen
- Position is in a DOT Cargo tank facility and subject to random drug and alcohol testing
- Must be a US citizen.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification (e.g., ASE for automotive electrical or equivalent)
- Experience with both mechanical and electrical systems
- Knowledge of computerized diagnostic systems
- Welding or fabrication skills (optional but beneficial)
Working Conditions:
- May work in workshops, garages, or industrial environments
- Exposure to noise, grease, machinery, and various weather conditions
- May require standing, bending, lifting, or working in confined spaces
- Occasional overtime or weekend work may be available
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs (or more depending on role)
- Prolonged standing, walking, and manual labor
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
